the start

It has taken me forever to start this dang thing. This blog will be short-lived, but I think a good thing. I want to simply write down some of my memorable experiences, thoughts about life, cultures, etc., and whatever I want. That's pretty much a blog.

So much to catch up on though...It's been just over 2 weeks now. The first several days in Prague and the next week in Austria. I am back in Prague now. Probably Germany, then Switzerland, France, Spain...don't have it exactly planned out yet.

A couple things I have noticed...
-the people in Prague smoke way too much, at way too young of an age.
-they have funky hair colors. Generally speaking, they look like they are living in the 80's--hair, clothes and music.
-Toilet paper is the same texture as America's standard public bathroom paper towels.

Austria is much cleaner than Czech Rep. We stayed a night in the Alps, and it was magnificent--the beauty is overwhelming. We stayed at a cute little bed and breakfast.

God has blessed me so much on this trip so far. I have more time to notice Him. I have more time to talk to Him. I think I will learn a lot.

I got a job Friday night! The hostel I am staying at (which doesn't even compare with other hostels, it's definitely more of a hotel) is having it's opening party on Friday, and since Lauren Backenstose (one of my best friends) lives in Prague and works at another hostel loosely affiliated with this one--I have met the managers etc. and they offered me a job to work at the big opening. Neat.

I suck at taking pictures....or, I just don't feel like ever doing it. I will try my darndest tho.

And now, to end with a funny little story...
Liz, Amanda (the 2 girls I began my travels with, and have now since made their way back home) and I were eating lunch on the stairs of a cathedral...and this Czech guy came up to us and asked us a question...I looked at him puzzled and then said matter-a-factly, "English." Then he repeated himself. And, I just stared. Then Liz informed me that he WAS speaking in English...
Ha. Yes, I was that girl.
